Q&A Nicky Cook

NICKY COOK
Band Manager, Song Writer, Producer,
Founder of KillaVista

So lets clear this up once and for all, did you write 'Who let the Dogs out'?
Who, who who who who me?

In 10 words or less, what's the secret to looking cool?
Wear black!

Do you talc your balls in warm weather? If so do you throw the talc direct onto the balls or do you put your pants on and throw the talc in after?
I'm holding them most of the time!

What band has got it right 'fashion wise' right now?
Missing Andy of course!!

You've travelled with the band 'Missing Andy' on many a tour. Who currently tops the list on personal hygiene?
No one is skanky, but Steve would go the longest without a shower
to avoid the frizz! Alex would use the most aftershave!

What brand of clothing are you sick of seeing?
Anything chav orientated!

So you've dabbled in celebrity soccer, what would Olly Murs say about your goal keeping skills?
I'm unstoppable with banana gloves! He would say "WOW the banana man is a wicked Goal Keeper!"

Have you ever ripped off your own shirt in the midst of passion?
Of course but it never panned out the way I intended it to.....In my head I was Arnie ripping a silky smooth shirt off, clean and simple....It turned out to be more like Danny Devito trying to rip a bed cover that had been super glued to my chest!

You're invited to a Superhero costume party, who do you go as?
Supermanager!!

What is Killavista?
It's something that isn't music, which means you can possibly make
money from it! KillaVista is a 'In House Media / creative think tank' company specializing in creating visual content, i.e. videos, photography, graphics and advertising concepts for the corporate and fashion world.

Q&A - Nike collector NeoGio

Q&A Nike collector and DJ NeoGio

1# How many pair of NIKE trainers do you own?
Around 60 pairs .... give or take a few, there's alot of boxes in my cupboard.

2# Have you ever come home drunk missing a shoe?
Nope not me personally but my friend did once after a new years eve party, we went looking for it the next day but it was long gone.

3# Have you ever hosted a party where a girl falls asleep drunk, then sleep walks her way to the airing cupboard in the middle of the night and fills your new nike trainers with piss?
No that's definitely not happened and she wouldn't wake up again if she did manage to do that haha.

4# What pair of Nike trainers do you own that you'd run back into a housefire for?
Can i really only save one pair ?? ..... If it came down to it then it would be either my Tiffany Diamond Dunk Sb's or my Futura Dunkle Sb's.

5# Without googling it, do you know where the name Nike came from?
I think its a word/name that's associated with the Greeks ... one of the gods or something.

6# Have you ever made love wearing your Nike trainers and nothing else?
No ... to be honest i don't think its something id want to try either.

7# If Dale Winton was the new face of Nike, would you still buy Nike?
Dale Winton, im not so sure he's the kind of face Nike would be associated with (lets be honest Dale doesn't look the sports type), but if the designs remained the same then i'd buy them.

8# What have you got against Dale Winton?
Personally i have nothing against him but if he has a personal grievance with me id be happy to sit down and discuss it.

9# Why Nike?
I think Nike are head and shoulders above the competition, since they launched the Jordan Brand in the 80's and then the SB line in the early 2000's they've always had the look and the colour ways that that have always stood out. Don't get me wrong ive got love for alot of other brands but Nike just seems to come up with the goods on a regular basis.

10# Where can people see you DJ next?
I'm playing at the Loop in Chelmsford on Friday the 26th of July at the Hip-Hop vs Garage night ..... 9-3 should be a good night, come talk to me about trainers and Hip-Hop music.

Q&A - UFC fighter Luke 'Bigslow' Barnatt

Luke 'Bigslow' Barnatt

Mixed martial artist fighting in the prodigious UFC

What item of clothing would you run into a house fire for?

My Bolongaro Trevor Black carrot cut 100% organic cotton trousers! That business enigma Paul Sowerby gave me after I begged him for months... I wear them far to much.

Which fighter past or present do you think has the best dress sense?

Of course me... but Leeroy Barnes is a UK beast who's always uploading instagram pictures that prove his fashion prowess...

Would you wear fake fur?

Hmmm if it suited an outfit! Probably on my shoes! But I have no desire to or desire not to.

Have you ever had someone cup your balls when being measured for a suit?

Unfortunately I've never been measured for a suit! It's actually something I have booked for next week. A snazy
3 piece... so hopefully I get the cupping treatment!

Which clothing label would you happily endorse for free?

Anything Original and different.. I love Bolongaro Trevor, Rag & Bone & Deltoro footwear... but there's so many out there! Belstaff, Scotch & Soda and John Varvatos are all in my wardrobe...

Do you think the average Brit dress's better than the average american?

100% I'm a bit more essentric than the average englishman but over in the states they wear god awful clothes! But you have the other side who are extremely stylish...
Its like their woman!  Either drop dead gorgeous or 300lbs... but based on the average joe. UK wins hands down!

Have you ever pulled a ring girl (The girls that hold up the numbers between boxing rounds) after winning a fight?

Next question you seedy individual... I'm a man of class!

Would you be happy to date a woman with poor dress sense??

Nope. It's pretty much top of my list along with athletic,  non smoker & an equal thirst for life.
Yep! I'm single lol

What film boasts the best fight scene?

I'm definitely not a movie buff!  So I wouldn't take my opinion to heart... but for hand to hand combat its gotta be Tony Jaar in Ong Bak... 1 the others were awful.

What item of clothing do you wear to treat the ladies?

Bjorn Borg Boxers, accept no substitute.

Where can people see you fight next?

I'm still waiting for confirmation but im hoping for it to be the M.E.N in Manchester in October!

Beyonce under fire

When the garment factory in Bangladesh collapsed back in April killing over 1000 employees, eyes immediately turned to the clothing giant H&M who are largest buyer of Bangladeshi garments, importing nearly £10 million of ready made clothes. However H&M were quick to dismiss rumours that the factory was connected to their branch by releasing 5 articles on their website, vehemently denying that any of their suppliers were connected to the tragedy. Then came a rather meek and under the radar announcement on their website that revealed H&M garments WERE in fact produced at the unit.

In the light of this news Director of the Global Labour and Human Rights Charles Kernaghan, audited several of the factories where H&M garments are produced and told the Star newspaper that 'There was sexual harassment in the sweatshops, as male supervisors would constantly press young women to have sex with them.' He also added 'There was child labour, people were being beaten, cheated of their wages — and wages were very, very low.'

In response to these claims the CEO of H&M Karl-Johan Persson spoke to Metro about its operations in Bangladesh, 'You can never be 100% sure. The factory collapse was horrific. Accidents happen in Sweden, too.'

Popstar Beyonce is under fire for being the face of clothing giant H&M as more damaging allegations emerge about conditions its works endure overseas. Are criticisms over her corporate ethics justified?

Fashion Q&A

Rob Jones
Bass player from Missing Andy

What item of clothing would you run into a house fire for?
I'd run in for my fav black jacket. Was a one off from LA.

Did you get fired from an agency for wearing a mankini to china whites?
I recall the shock of people's faces as I ran down embankment not entirely packaged!!

If you had to tattoo a brand name on your forehead what would it be?
For comedy value, and free fish and chips id have 'Smith &'

Have you ever had someone cup your balls when being measured for a suit?
Never had one tailored, but I bet the gay bloke in town row's would be game.

How important is it to wear matching socks?
I've always tried to, but I'm in a phase of trainer socks so I guess it doesn't matter.

What frontman past or present has the best dress sense?
Labyrinth seems to look sharp in anything.

Ever worn women's clothes on stage?
I did a gig in the boars head pub in a bra and wig once for a band called funk power boat Racer - it wasn't one of my best shows haha.

What does the term Sunday best mean to you?
Usually 'where is my house from here?'

Ever taken all your clothes on stage?
Mate, I've had drunken piggy backs on stage!!!

Do you think you can be a trend setter by wearing h&m?
I've been known to sport the odd item. I'm no label snob!

Kanye thinks he's Jim Morrison

MAIN NEWS

The fashion headline that caught my eye this week came when Kanye West spoke out after an unnamed label tried to confine him to one catwalk appearance a season. He was quoted as saying:

'Cause it's like, Yo! Nobody can tell me where I can and can't go," West told W magazine. "Man, I'm the number-one living and breathing rock star. I am Axl Rose; I am Jim Morrison; I am Jimi Hendrix. You can't say that you love music and then say that Kanye West can't come to your show.  To even think they could tell me where I could and couldn't go is just ludicrous. It's blasphemous - to rock 'n' roll, and to music."

Kanye has also claimed to have as much creative influence to our modern culture as Steve Jobs had to Apple products. In an interview to Times magazine he declared:

I think what Kanye West is going to mean is something similar to what Steve Jobs means, I am undoubtedly, you know, Steve of Internet, downtown, fashion, culture. Period. By a long jump. I honestly feel that because Steve has passed, you know, it’s like when Biggie passed and Jay-Z was allowed to become Jay-Z.

Kanye's
fashion career has unfortunately failed to scale the heights he himself has so modestly set. In September 2005, West announced that he would release his Pastelle Clothing line in spring 2006, claiming "Now that I have a Grammy under my belt and Late Registration is finished, I am ready to launch my clothing line next spring." The line was developed over the following four years - with multiple pieces teased by West himself - before the line was ultimately cancelled in 2009.

I tried to get a comment from Kanye regarding his release of casual clothing this month, and maybe ask why he felt the need to call his new born 'North' and not 'Adam', but the site dresslikekanyewest has sadly been taken down, and that's where my efforts stopped.

In other news

So last week the two designers Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce were sentenced to 20 months in prison for tax offenses. This week their headaches grew as the launch of their 2014 Spring Collection was invaded by a male streaker who leapt onto the catwalk and did the full monty.
The collection itself is said to be inspired by Greek antiquity - featuring images of crumbling temples like the Parthenon, and images of Zeus and other gods.
A source close to the action said 'I simply couldn't finish my Cornetto after witnessing that'.

Finally

One of our very own brands Gifted Heroes (the London outfit known for it's 'Peacocking' style) had a little lift this week when one of the band members from One Direction wore one of their T-shirts on stage.
